One Flaming Hot Dog

Sounds like something yummy you get at the fair, not in my backyard.
So.... Friday night, Austin and I wanted to grill some chicken that had been marinating in the fridge. He had just bought two new bags of charcoal and it said no lighter fluid needed and we figured it would light easily. Welp, it didn't. We worked on lighting that stupid stuff for at least 30 minutes. Austin went inside to look for lighter fluid and came back outside with paper towels instead. He said we didn't have any lighter fluid... just WD 40 and he didn't want to use that for fear of what it would do to our food. We twisted the paper towels and started a little fire, but the charcoal still wouldn't light at all!!! I suggested he get some gas, since I figured we would have some for the lawn mower. He came back with some in a paper bowl. (The next few moments FLEW by and I just stood in shock) All of a sudden, he poured, the bowl caught on fire, Austin threw the bowl and the grass caught fire, at that same time, some of the gas had dripped on Mia and she was running around the backyard with her butt on fire.... I went for the hose thinking that was smart, but of course it wasn't hooked up and had a cover on the nozzle since it had been cold. (Back to standing in shock) Austin is diving all over the yard and yelling at Mia to stop running. He finally catches her on the porch and puts out her butt fire with his hands.... He handed her to me and all I could do was hold her and never let her go! I was so scared to see what damage the fire had done to our precious puppy.
Her burned fur
Her only little burn on the back of her leg
After a few short moments of getting over the initial shock, we took her inside to the tub. As he was washing stuff out of her fur, Austin smells it and I was like... hmm that was wierd.... then he said I scared the poop out of her... I told him well duh, what would you do if your butt was on fire... and he said no, seriously, I think I scared the poop out of her!!! But in all honesty, I think the burned poop saved her fur from burning! The other thing that saved her life, her sweater. I had just put it on her because it was chilly outside, and thank goodness I did!
The damage to her sweater

Her scrapes on her tummy from the concrete when Austin caught her

After we got her bathed, we checked out the damage, and thank goodness we didn't find any. That would have been so much worse trying to contact a vet and all that mess if she was seriously injured! She was actually back to her normal self about 20 minutes after the disaster. I was still a wreck! I was so scared for her. I told Austin it was because she couldn't tell me if anything was hurting....

Wow, it was just a crazy night, and I hope I never, EVER have to do that again.....

Christmas 2010

We had a full packed, extra fun Christmas this year!!!! We got to see almost all our families and that is such a blessing. I promise you we won't do the same next year! It was way too much driving on Christmas day for us. It was so good to see everyone though!

Merry Christmas, Love Mia
We started out in Whitney after Austin worked til 1 on Christas Eve. We opened our gifts that night with Austin's sister and family, aunt and uncle, parents and brother. We had a blast and it was fun getting to see his aunt and uncle that live in Kentucky. We hardly get to see them. We spent the night and woke up to Christmas morning breakfast! Around lunch time, we packed up and headed to Temple. My mom was sad that she wouldn't have all her children together on Christmas, so we planned a surprise Christmas and all met at the house. My mom was definitely surprised, I knew this because she was napping when we all arrived!!!! I am so glad we did this for my mom. It was very special.

After doing Christmas at the house in Temple, we were heading to the ranch. We had to stop by the house to do some more packing and went ahead and opened our presents to each other while we were at the house. I love this time opening presents with my husband and precious dog. They are the best people in the world to spend Christmas with and I love them!

Can't leave out Mia!

After we finished opening up presnts and packing up, we headed to the ranch. We left a little later then we wanted, and ended up getting to the ranch house around 12:30!! We headed right to bed and set our alarms for the early 6 am hunt!!! Suprisingly we got up and went to hunt... Kinda wish we didn't... IT WAS FREEZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and we didn't see a single deer. But Travis shot a doe so Austin got to see them clean it and skin it for the first time!!!!
Trying to stay warm...
Austin searching for deer...... None to be found
After ranch Christmas, Austin, Me, Lynnsay, HB, and our cousin Johnny decided to sit on the tailgate to hunt. It was so much fun and we actually saw more deer then we did while being silent that morning.... wierd! But like I said, it was a blast and we got some good chit chatting in!!!!

Merry Christmas to all!!!!!!!!!!

Toros Game

At Dr. Johns, to promote us and for our kids to have a little fun, they get a bunch of tickets and we all get to go. Austin and I got tickets to attend the Austin Toros basketball game. They are in the D league and they are right under the Spurs (notice the colors and symbols on the court). We ended up having a blast though!!! Here are some pictures throughout the game.

Before the game started, they were warming up. Before the team warmed up, our kids got to play some basketball on the court! So fun for them!!!

This was a HUGE choir group that sang. They sat pretty close to us up in the stands and one of my kids was in it. She was so excited to see me, because I hadn't seen her since summer, it was good to see her too!!! She is in 6th grade now, so she isn't at Dr. Johns.

Our kids got to get in a line and give the players high fives when they got announced!

Us of course!!!

At after school care that afternoon, we made signs to hold up!! They were so cute!
Mr. Toro himself!!! He was a pretty good dancer. Really entertaining!!!
All in all, we had a great time and I hope we get to do this again!!!!!
